Description

A charming watercolour depiction of the mountain pass in the Maloja region of the Swiss Alps. On the reverse of the watercolour itself is a handwritten critique, given by the renowned watercolourist, William Wardlaw Laing (1837-1918). The critique was given during a competition and has been signed by Laing and presented with four judges stickers. The painting has been inscribed and dated at the reverse by the artist.

The painting has been presented in a contemporary frame with wash-line mount and glazing.

On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing across the surface. There is minor debris trapped behind the glazing.
