Description

Attributed to British artist Frederick George Cotman (1850-1920), this fine English landscape depicts a secret pathway down to the estuary with little stone bridge crossing. Presented in a magnificent acanthus gilt frame with ornate corner mouldings. Unsigned. Inscribed to the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There is some craquelure to the surface of the oil. Some creasing in the canvas where the stretcher bars sit. Light wear, stable cracking and small losses to the ornate frame.
