A very fine, carefully detailed landscape in oil by the early 20th Century artist C. Campbell. The artist has depicting a narrow view through lakeside trees, with pastoral fields in the distance and ferns growing in the foreground. Atmospheric and moody, the palette creates visual texture and definition. There is a distinct sense of a damp autumn day, overcast but calm. Signed to the lower left corner, and dated 1909. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
In good condition overall. There is some historic craquelure across the surface. There are two repairs to the canvas which have been professionally restored. Scuffing to the corners and edges of the canvas.
