Artist Biography
From a humble background in Margate, Kent, and with an education disrupted by the Second World War, Christopher Alexander (1926-1982) worked tirelessly on his drawing skills and eventually achieved a place at the Royal College of Art.
After graduating, he accepted a teaching job at the Thanet School of Art, before moving to the Canterbury College of Art, where his particular specialism was figure drawing. An inspirational, amusing and dedicated teacher, he still found time to produce a phenomenal number of drawings and oil paintings.
