Description

A very fine watercolour by the British artist David Daly. Daly is known for his depictions of birds in their natural environment, and this fine composition focuses on the Great Snipe, a small stocky wader that inhabits the marshes and wet meadows in north-eastern Europe.

Daly is known for his delicate and accurate portrayal of wildlife, which he paints en-plein air. He says of his subject matter, "sketching something that may disappear at any moment is an exciting challenge and all the elements of working directly from life help to create a more convincing image".

This delicate image has been completed in washes of watercolour with areas of precise detail and accuracy. Wonderfully displayed in a washline mount with a wooden frame and gilt detail.

Signed and dated. On wove.
