Description

A highly colourful and attractive landscape in acrylic with crayon details, by the British artist Henry E. Foster (1921-2010). Foster has achieved a post-impressionist flavour in this work, with a short layered technique, and a varied palette. The natural forms in the landscape, such as the gnarled tree branches, are given emphasis, while other elements have been softened. This contrast creates an overall dream-like setting. Well-presented in a washline mount and gilt wooden frame, with acanthus scroll mouldings, as shown. Signed and dated and inscribed. On wove.

Condition

In fine condition. There are some minor marks to the mount.
