A fine and accomplished oil painting, depicting a woodland scene with a small wooden fence in the distance. The artist has used various shades of green and blue to create this thoughtful and harmonious composition. Monogrammed and dated to the lower right-hand corner. There are two labels on the reverse inscribed with the name 'Hugh Maclean', perhaps referring to one of the painting's previous owners. Well-presented in a pale pink and off-white wooden frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, minor areas of paint loss and craquelure. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Some scuffs and marks to the frame.
