A busy scene in a square in Rouen, the tower of Saint-Ouen Abbey visible in the background. Presented in a pale blue mount and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Signed to the lower-right edge. Inscribed on original backing board, 'Normandy. An old Street in Rouen with the Abbey Tower of St Owens Abbey'. On watercolour paper.

Condition

There is extensive discolouration and some surface marks. There are some small marks and scratches to the frame.

Artist Biography

Paul Braddon (1864-1938) was a painter, born James Leslie Crees in Birmingham. He resided for many years in Hull and his work is much influenced by Paul Marny. He is known to have executed many watercolour copies of old prints.
